Hand It Over
A reflection on surrendering hopeless situations to God, inspired by three biblical accounts of mothers whose dead sons were restored to them.
I noticed something in Scripture. In Luke 7, Jesus gave a widow her dead son back. In 1 Kings 17, Elijah gave the widow of Zarephath her son back. In 2 Kings 4, Elisha gave the Shunammite woman her son back. These three women all did something powerful: they surrendered their situations to God.
No matter how dead or hopeless the situation seemed, they were willing to hand it over to the Master. The moment their situations left their hands and entered into the hands of the Master, they received a whole package in return. I asked myself, what situation am I holding on to that seems dead or hopeless?
I may even be trying to bring it back to life myself, but the resurrection is not in me. The resurrection is in the Master. If you are willing to let go of that situation and hand it over to Him, you can be guaranteed of a wholesome return. When Jesus gives you that situation back, it will be in a perfect state. All He is asking you to do today is: hand it over and let Him take care of it.
