Are You Using the Right Fuse?

Using the analogy of a broken fuse in a steam iron, this post explores how love is the essential component that makes a Christian's life function properly.

Are You Using the Right Fuse?

One day I got a pressing iron for school and was proud to have my own steam iron. On the first day of use, the light on the iron went off and it never came back on. I tried different sockets but nothing worked. Months later, an electrician discovered the problem: the fuse was simply blown. A whole steam iron wasn't functioning because of its fuse — one of the smallest and most insignificant elements.

The love of God inside us is like that fuse. It is one of the most ignored virtues we fail to walk in, yet it is the most potent force in a Christian's life. If ignored, it can stop the whole system from functioning. Our faith is void without love, and faith is the substance of our hope. Without love, faith and hope are void.

Love is our powerhouse. Our prayers don't have access without love, because Jesus said in Mark 11 that if we don't forgive, neither will our Father forgive us. So if we don't forgive, our sins are not forgiven and we are seen as sinners. Love forgives and grants our prayers access to answers.

You might be thinking, 'Where am I missing it?' and considering extreme measures like going for deliverance or fasting for 21 days. Before you open the whole iron, check your fuse. Maybe you have switched your love fuse for unforgiveness, hatred, or malice. God is telling you today to put in the right fuse, which is His love shed in the heart of every believer. Apply the whole of 1 Corinthians 13 to your life and watch your life work.
